Chiemgau riding before winter.

Two pics taken of Max last November in the Chiemgau mountains. Was a bit of a lazy day, we actually took the cable car up to the top of the mountain. Snowy on top but just down from the summit the trails cleared. Pics taken using a Nikon D700 and the 14-24 with some remote flash. The red dots in the second pic are a bit distracting to the composition, but the walkers around here are stupid and need to disfigure the trails otherwise they would get lost ;)

Into the sun…

One of my favourite pics from last year. Taken at Lenggries bike park one sunny June morning. Max Schumann is in the air and Stefan Fischbacher looks on. Saw what I wanted and got the frame the 2nd time he hit the jump.

Nikon D300 & Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 lens.

Night riding

Took a late afternoon bike and hike above Garmsich. Temp’s were mega-warm. Most of the trails are stripped of snow. Well, mostly. There were still some sneaky patches of ice here and there waiting to bring you down.  We got on top just as it got dark.  Kind of always goes that way since it’s impossible to keep walking up hill through amazing light. Got to stop and shoot it. So it takes a while to get to the top, by which time it’s dark.  But I wanted to take a couple of night shots above the lights anyway, particularly with the extra search lights that are on just now. Pic shows Fabi drifting around a bend and warming up again for the trail ahead.

Panasonic GH2, 7-14mm lens, two flashes and a 40sec exposure.

Isar at Night

Did a bunch of night time shots with Max on the Isar one night last week. We met up at the Marienklaus Brücke, so this one was the first frame we tried. Would have preferred the light reflections in the water but the ice killed that idea. Converted it to B&W just to try something different.  All other frames we shot after this we did in color. Hopefully you’ll see them soon.

Kampenwand powder biking

Headed up the Kampenwand late afternoon with Max. Didn’t exactly luck out with the snow, much more up there than we expected so the Plan A trail was off. Had a cup of tea at the hut, outside since it was shut, turned the lights on and drifted back down the piste to the car.  F**king freezing on top, sure was glad to slide fast back to the car…

Pic taken using the Panasonic GH2 and the CV 25mm f/0.95 lens.

Down at the Pump Track

Last weekend we were riding the mountain trails, virtually in a t-shirt. Temperatures have since dropped like a stone and there’s fresh snow in the mountains again. Stayed in Muc today. Goofed about with Niall and took a walk past a pump track with a couple of small cams. Met Max and Nuts and shot a few frames. Got this one just before heading home. Panasonic GH1 + CV Nokton 50mm f/1.1. Conversion in SilverEfex to TMAX.

2011 Season Start

January 16th and +15°c at about 1700m on the South side trails. Dry as a bone. Feels like Spring. Unbelievable.

Pics & video taken with the Panasonic GH2 + 7-14mm lens.

BIKE Magazine “hot shot”

Got a B&W hot shot in BIKE 02/2011. Taken in October last year on a classic ridge line close to the Alpspitze, above Garmisch. Fabi is riding. It’s great to see some B&W in the BIKE magazine, and about time.  It’s also worth noting that this pic was NOT taken with my normal Nikon gear, and, instead, by using a Panasonic GH1 & 50mm f/1.8 lens. Notable that the MFT format is actually okay for double page spreads. Thanks to Laurin Lehner for getting on the case and translating my English words into Deutsch.

Pointe de Chavasse, Haute Savoie.

Alspitze

Taken from the summit of Stuibenkopf … sure looks like an interesting ski tour :)

Three stitch pano, GH2 + 14-140mm @70mm for each frame, handheld.

Stitched using PTgui, B&W conversion with SilverEfex.
