Winter night riding @ Tegernsee

Headed up to Aueralm on Wednesday evening with Dirk, Tom, Annette and Max. Bella couldn’t make it because she was too lazy ;o)  The track up was on compacted snow so it was okay for some biking and pushing. Pushing mainly. The hut was packed full of skiers, sledgers and us bikers. Atmosphere inside was great!, warm, dark and moist. Tastey food and beer. The ride back down via the piste was so much fun – a cool section through woods to start then finishing on more open piste above Tegernsee, as you can see in this pic. Lupine lights make this kind of outing a pleasure, at no time are you stuggling to see where you’re riding and can ride just as if it were day light. Took my Pugsley along too, tyres were running at about 5psi and just floating over the snow. Brilliant evening!

Pic taken with a D700 + 20mm f2.8 @f5.6 on top of a carbon Gitzo 1351 and bulbed out for as long as it took Tom to ride down, which was quite a long time…
